![]() ![]() We did get a chocolate cream pie at the Ted's Bulletin restaurant next door for dessert one night and it was delicious and the crust wasn't even burnt. ![]() You will not find a golden croissant here - their's are the color of mud. I know the trend for the past several years has been to over-brown breads and pastries and it seems the Sidekick Bakery goes beyond even that egregious level of over-browning. We walk past here often and peek in to see if anything catches our eye but we are always put off by the dark brown croissants. I wasn't a fan of the signature pop-tart either. The 2nd slice we purchased was burnt through both layers and inedible (they should have thrown this one out). We decided to try it again since the first time we had it was during the soft opening and we hoped maybe they were just working out the kinks with a new oven. The first time it tasted heavily of flour and the very bottom was burnt. Unfortunately, we haven't really enjoyed the treats we bought here. ![]() We wanted to love them and were so excited to have another bakery in the neighborhood. Overall, I would say they're more of a 2.5 than a 3 star. Will probably be back but I definitely want to try the croissants. The cake was also very good and the filling was delicious. The filling wasn't overly sweet but very savory and flavorful. The bread portion of the Ted tart reminded me of shortbread cookies. but this place had them and they were delightful. I never really thought of it as a baked good. I have been brainwashed to think that pop tarts can only be bought from the grocery store. That's right you read that correctly Ted is making mother effin pop tarts. The redeeming indulgence in my opinion were the Ted tarts. Nobody greeted me until my fiancé walked in a few minutes after me. The service was very robotic and not very welcoming. We got there towards the end of the day so there were a lot of empty spaces in the display case. The selection is varied and everything looks so good in the displays.
